Multi-Resolution Spatial Databases: Consistency Among Networks
نویسندگان
چکیده
Heterogeneous geographic databases contain multiple views of the same geographic objects at different levels of spatial resolution which must be consistent with each other. This paper develops a formal method of assessing consistency of topological relations in R at a high level of abstraction, over complexly structured spatial objects that form networks. Networks are a frequently used data type in geographic applications where, for instance, a river with its tributaries and lakes is considered a single spatial object. The relationships between such a network and another spatial object are often used as criteria for describing the consistency in multi-scale geographic applications. The proposed model includes computational methods to determine when two networks are the same or not. The model is further extended to cover the relationships between a network and another spatial object, such as a region or a line. These methods will play an important role in the assessment of spatial similarity of scenes with complex configurations including roads and urban areas, paths, and other linear geographic features.

The purpose of multi-focus image fusion is gathering the essential information and the focused parts from the input multi-focus images into a single image. These multi-focus images are captured with different depths of focus of cameras. A lot of multi-focus image fusion techniques have been introduced using considering the focus measurement in the spatial domain. However, the multi-focus image ...
متن کاملA Seamless Constraint Model of Multi-Scale Representation of Geographical Information
At present, it has become a hot issue to provide a multi-representation mechanism and build multi-scale spatial databases in the field of GIS. Meanwhile, an inevitable problem is how to evaluate and preserve the consistency of multi-scale spatial data. In this paper, we introduce the concepts of homonymous points and homonymous entities based on innate characteristics of spatial data and put fo...
متن کاملA Multi-representation Spatial Data Model
Geo-referenced information is characterised by the fact that it may be represented on maps at different levels of detail or generalisation. Ideally a spatial database will provide access to spatial data across a continuous range of resolution and multiple levels of generalisation. Existing work on multiresolution databases has treated generalisation control as one-dimensional. Here we extend th...

متن کاملTopological Consistency for Collapse Operation in Multi-scale Databases
When we derive multi-scale databases from a source spatial database, the geometries and topological relations, which are a kind of constraints defined explicitly or implicitly in the source database, are transformed. It means that the derived databases should be checked to see if or not the constraints are respected during a derivation process. In this paper, we focus on the topological consist...
